SCRI–NHG CRCS Webinar–cum–Appreciation Day

Clinical Research Coordinators (CRCs) are the bedrock of clinical studies but their contributions are often overlooked.

To celebrate their dedication and hard work, SCRI Academy – the national platform overseeing the continuous education and career development for CRCs – partners the healthcare clusters and research institutions to organise an annual CRC appreciation day and workshop.

This year, more than 250 research professionals from the clinical research community gathered virtually to learn the latest in clinical research trends at the Clinical Research Coordinator Society (CRCS) Webinar organised by SCRI and the National Healthcare Group.

Opening the session, Dr Danny Soon, CEO of the Consortium for Clinical Research and Innovation Singapore and Executive Director of SCRI, recognised the pivotal role which CRCs play in handling the bulk of research activities for Principal Investigators (PIs) and ensuring that clinical studies progress smoothly. He also announced that SCRI Academy will be launching a more in-depth programme to upskill CRCs later this year.

Associate Professor Lim Su Chi, Clinical Director of the Clinical Research Unit from Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, discussed the important attributes of a CRC that will empower him/her to effectively partner the PI to become a winning team.

Ms Pang Mei Yan, Senior Clinical Research Coordinator from the National University Health System, shared the successes and challenges of her journey from a junior CRC to a leader of a CRC team.

Finally, Ms Sumitra Sachidanandan, Regulatory Consultant from the Health Sciences Authority, provided insights into the impact which COVID-19 has had on ongoing clinical trials and the ways the pandemic has transformed how clinical trials will be conducted in the future.
